Alfred Jeffery born about 1860
My Great Grandfather was born about 1862/3 in Lewisham, Kent, England according to 1901 British census and was born about 1860/1 in Blackheath, Kent according to 1911 British census. I cannot trace an entry for him in either 1881 or 1891 censuses. His marriage certificate in 1893 gives his age as 29 thus born about 1862 / 3. His father is shown as Frederick although deceased at date of wedding. Does any one have information on a Jeffery / Jeffrey family from the Lewisham / Blackheath or Greenwich areas of Kent (now London)?

Who was Mary Dumble
Mary Dumble, was born about 1864 in Erith, Kent, England, and is listed in 1891 and 1901 censuses as a domestic servant. She is living with the family of William Henry Durrant and shown as "niece". William Durrant's mother in law was Eliza Dunmill and its possible that Mary Dumble surname was Dunmill. Anyone got any more info?

What happenned to the Clarke family
William Henry Durrant married Mary Anne Clarke and in 1881 census her brother George, (shown as age 24 and born in Northumberland Heath, Erith, Kent, England) was living with this Durrant family.
Also living with the family were two girls both named Sarah Clarke, one age 17 and the other age 13. Both were born in Northumberland Heath, Erith, Kent, England described as "Niece" and "O" so possibly orphaned.
In 1891 census, George is still living with the Durrant family (although age shown as 32) but neither Sarah Clarke is shown on this census return.
The 1891 census for William's brother Charles Durrant shows an adopted son of Charles F Clark, age 1 and born in Dartford Union, Kent, England living with this family.
Anyone know if Charles Clark was related to other Clarkes mentioned and if so what happened to the parents and the girls both named Sarah.
